a school teacher recently was a victim of an ATM machine fraud. Funmilayo Aruleba got up in the saturday morning cleaned up her self and decided to visit her sisters. But, she will need some money to accomplish certain things. So, she decided to visit her bank for ATM withdrawal. According to her, she slotted her card in the machine but was unable to withdraw so, she was about to leave when one of the standers behind her encouraged her to try it again which she tried and her card got stocked inside the machine. About to turn she realized that her standers was very close behind her when she was trying to make the transaction. They advice her to complain to the security as it was saturday and no working period. But, worst still they were unable to render help and she left to house only to discover that N150,000 have been withdrawn from her account.
Comrade Kushimo Olumuyiwa, Secretary of the Lagos State branch of CDHR where the victim complained to said: “When she complained to us, we wrote GTB and Zenith Bank requesting for the original footage of the people who used the ATM at the time the theft occurred and that GTB should take full responsibility and refund Funmilayo’s money since they could not provide the card. “ But, did they refund the money? this is a poor teacher with four children to take care of.
