4 NIGERIANS KILLED IN INDONESIA FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING OFFENCE.

Is death sentence the solution for stopping drug trafficking in the world? This is one of the critical question we all have to ask as Indonesia have chosen that as a solution to ending the menace of drug trafficking, one should ask weather this death sentences have stopped the offense. Many have died in Indonesia through execution and since then nothing seems to stop the culprits from indulging in this illicit act. So, if i may ask, the solution is not death sentence. Yesterday, the Indsonesian government executed 4 Nigerians including others from other countries over drug trafficking and related offenses. The death sentence was carried out by firing squads who shot the victims in masses.
The Nigerians were identified as Martin Anderson, 50; Silvester Nwolise, 47; Okwudili Oyatanze, 41, and Jamiu Abashin, 50.
The convicts were reportedly taken to the Nusakambangan Island where they were executed by firing squad on Tuesday evening.
Abashin was said to have appealed for presidential clemency, claiming he never knew he was carrying the drugs. His plea was rejected.
Nwolise was sentenced to death in 2002 for smuggling a kilogram of heroin into Indonesia.
Oyatanze was sentenced to death in 2002, after being found guilty of attempting to bring 2.5kg of heroin through Jakarta in capsules inside his stomach. Many nations including the US and the China have pleaded with the Indonesian government to suspend the death penalty but to no avail.
