(WOMEN EQUALITY) ------Buhari's Support For Women Still a Far Cry.

On March 19, 2015, at the Habour Point hall, Lagos. A town hall meeting of women professionals took place at exactly the pick of election campaign. You could remember that, at that meeting, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was then the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) pledged his support for women in all sectors of the economy. Boastfully,  he vowed to
implement the 2005 National Gender Policy, which makes provision for women to occupy 35 percent appointive positions, and said it would serve as a road map for the promotion of gender equality.
Since his inception on office, have we seen that being implemented as promised by the president? Really, capital No!.  Looking into the recent cabinet appointments, you can see that only six women were appointed on his recent ministerial list last year. (Five women from North and One from South) which goes down to the issue of tribal sentiments which the president seems to be known for. Check-out the list; FIVE WOMEN FROM NORTH, ONLY ONE FROM SOUTHERN YORUBA'S then, what happens to the women in the East, the Middle belt and so-on.
The list of the few appointed women reads thus:
Aisha Alhassan from Taraba State,
 Kemi Adeosun  from Ogun State,
Amina Mohammed from Gombe State,
Khadija Bukar Ibrahim from Yobe State,
 Zainab Ahmed from Kaduna State
and Aisha Abubakar, these are the few women that eventually formed part of Buhari’s cabinet.
This number is a far cry from the percentage of women who were part of the last administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. What is happening Mr president, we need a helping answer to all these promise and fail attitude from Nigerian politicians.
