Aespeaklekwecracy! THE GOVERNMENT OF ENUGU STATE.

By Ikenna Okefor

As the center of South East and even the South-South regions, Enugu state suppose to be the state of equality and the master mind of the southern regions of the East, by this i mean, equality in terms of the distribution of Infrastructure, and social instruments that helps in the development of human beings and the environment. Because we should have in mind that the highest development of any nation is on it's citizens, that is human capacity development.

Anyway, that is if we believe we are the same but one people from same ethnic descendant. As things stands now in my coal city state, the state government affairs have been branded with one ethnic-inclined sectional statement that goes with the acronym "Aespeaklekwe" anyone from Nsukka community should be able to know what i'm talking about.Though, i'm very sorry for being out-spoken, i should have reserved my words but, sorry dear, for those days of keeping silent have gone. For things to be alright in this nation, we have to speak out with one voice and condemn or uplift any thing we found contrary or good to the people. I still reserved my words in my people's heart because I'm one of them.

For that oneness to truly bear fruit of genuineness, we have to practice what we preach as leaders or likely anything we like to answer as names. You know, according to Igbo adage; 'Afa so Mmadu eje' simply means that what ever you answered as name should represent your out-come and what follows you in life. Then, while should my Governor answer 'GBURUGBURU' i.e (all over) and, so early as it is now, started practicing SECTIONAL government. Is he about to bring back the SINGING GOVERNMENT of Chimaroke Nnamani that nearly turned Enugu state into his Kindred?  My surprise came when the governor went to the extent of announcing a few meters away road along Holy Ghost axis that he renovated, definitely reminding me the coming back of primitive governance like that of the formal governor Nnamani. But recently, i stoped hearing that kind of childish branding of a governor of a whole COAL CITY STATE, may be, some shameful individuals have adviced hime over that.

Anyway, all we are saying is for him to forget that primitive tribal behaviors that eventually engulf people of his kind regarding the tribe he is coming from. Look, we all should have in mind that Enugu state do not belong to only Nsukka people but to all that are of Enugu origin and those resident in Enugu.
